REGISTRATION OF BIRTH OF CHILDREN ELIGIBLE FOR INDIAN NATIONALITY


1          For a child born in Malta to be registered as an Indian citizen, the application is to be made online. For detailed information, applicants are requested to visit the website of Ministry of Home Affairs at web link:https://indiancitizenshiponline.nic.in/


2.         Kindly select the last option (Registration of birth of a minor child at an Indian consulate Under Section 4(1) of the Citizenship Act, 1955) for this purpose.Click ‘Apply Online’ button to fill up the form.


3.         Applicants are required to verify the application details before submitting the online application.Once the online application form is submitted by the applicant, then further modifications are not allowed.


4.         Applicant needs to upload passport size photograph of the child, and signature of both the parents on the website. The photograph and signatures should be in jpg format only. Photograph on the application should be of size 35X35 mm (with 80% coverage by face). It should have light colour background (not white) without border with front view of the child’s head and shoulders showing the full face in the middle of the photograph.


5.         Applicant needs to upload all below mentioned documents on the website:

(i)            A copy of Birth Certificate of the child

(ii)           A copy of the Indian passport of both the parents

(iii)          A copy of the Indian citizenship if acquired by   registration/naturalization

(iv)          A copy of marriage certificate of parents

(v)          Declaration form that the child does not hold passport of any other country


6.         The applicant is requested to take print out of the duly filled online application and send the above indicated documents (self-attested) by Post or may be dropped in the Mail box of the High Commission of India . The address of the High Commission of India Malta is:

7.         Once the documents are received and checked, intimation will be sent by email regarding necessary consular fees to be transferred to the High Commission’s bank account.
